Joint statement for an ambitious Horizon Europe Programme

Brussels, 18 September 2019

Brussels 16 September 2019,

FEVE co-signed with EARTO and its research and industrial partners representing key European research & innovation stakeholders, a 3rd Joint Statement for an Ambitious Horizon Europe Programme. FEVE and the other 92 European associations signatories of this Joint Statement urge the EU Institutions to make research, development and innovation (RD&I) a priority within the next Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027.

with EARTO, we call on the Council of the EU to raise the budget allocated to the Horizon Europe programme to at least €120 billion (in 2018 prices). We call on EU Institutions to prioritise excellent cross-border collaborative RD&I with impact within Horizon Europe, and to allocate a budget share of at least 60% of Horizon Europe’s total budget to its pillar II – Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness.

We are fully convinced that Europe has the potential to lead the global innovation race and to remain a model of economic and social prosperity. For that, Europe needs to strongly invest in pan-European collaborative RD&I.
